Privacy Policy

Anonymous Chat Live, at anonymouschatlive.com, pairs adults with strangers for one-on-one text, voice and video chat. You can begin without giving us a real name, a phone number or an email address. That does not mean the service runs on zero information, and this policy is where we say plainly what we collect, what we use it for and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect, grouped by type

The list below covers everything we hold about users. Some of it only exists if you sign in.

Session and device data for everyone: a random identifier stored in your browser, your browser and device type, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and the age confirmation you gave.
Chat activity: when each match started and ended, which mode it used, and the identifiers of the two sides. Text messages sent during a match pass through our servers so they can be delivered.
Reports and blocks: reports you file, reports filed about you, the context attached to them, blocks you set, and notes our moderators write while handling a case.
Balance data: your free matches, Reward Center claims and coin balance.
Account data, only if you sign in: the sign-in method you chose, such as an email address or a third-party login, and the settings you save.
Purchase data, only if you buy coins: what was bought, when, and the confirmation our payment provider sends. Card numbers are handled by that provider and never reach our systems in full.

What the people you chat with receive

We do not hand your name, phone number, email or IP address to the people you are matched with. What they receive is what you send in the chat: your typed words in text mode, your voice in voice mode, and your camera picture in video mode.

Anything you say about yourself in a chat goes straight to the other person, and we cannot pull it back once it is sent. Keep identifying details out of conversations with strangers.

Camera, microphone and recordings

Camera and microphone access is controlled by your browser, and we only use them in the modes that need them after you allow it. You can revoke that permission in your browser settings whenever you want, and text mode works without either.

Ordinary voice and video calls are not routinely recorded or kept by us. When a chat is reported, moderators may review material connected to that chat, such as typed messages or a still frame, in order to decide whether our rules were broken.

How we use information

To find you a match, connect the call and deliver messages.
To keep track of your free matches, Reward Center claims and coins.
To handle reports, enforce the community guidelines and keep people under 18 off the service.
To catch spam, bots, fraud and attempts to game the Reward Center.
To answer your support messages.
To study usage in aggregate, such as which modes are popular at which hours, so the service can improve.

Sharing with other companies and authorities

Your personal information is not for sale, to anyone. Limited data goes to companies that run parts of the service for us, including hosting, real-time media delivery, payment processing and email, and they may only use it to do that job.

We may also disclose information if a valid legal request requires it, or when we believe in good faith that it is needed to protect someone from serious harm, including reports involving the safety of a minor.

Retention periods

Session logs and match records are kept for a limited period and then deleted or reduced to statistics that no longer point to anyone. Report records and moderation notes are kept longer, because we need them to spot repeat offenders. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Account data stays until you ask us to delete the account.

Your choices and deletion

You can clear the identifier in your browser at any time by deleting site data. If you have an account and want it and its associated data deleted, write to [email protected] from the email address or with the details of the sign-in method attached to it. We will confirm when it is done.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to see a copy of your data, correct it, or object to some uses of it. Send those requests to the same address. Some records, like purchase history we must keep by law or reports tied to a safety case, may be kept even after deletion, and we will tell you if that applies.

Age requirement

Anonymous Chat Live is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If we learn that a user is under 18, the account is closed and the related data is removed, except where we need to keep it to report a safety concern.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the date at the top of the page changes with it, and larger changes will be announced on the site. Questions about privacy go to [email protected].
